Curbside Checkout process

Hours will be: Saturday 11-1, Monday 11-1, Wednesday 4-6

Please be patient with us as we adapt, change and learn from this initial experience.

We are taking all necessary precautions to limit interactions in person. Please call 253-237-2290 or email info@southkingtools.org with any questions or concerns. Here is a quick overview of our process:

  • Members must email or call to verify their membership type, order of tools, tool and time availability.

  • Members must have waiver acknowledgement signed prior to order scheduling.

  • Members must arrive at the South King Tool Library drive-way in their assigned windows (30 minute time slots on designated days), receive space assignment from SKTL Representative and stay in their cars.

  • SKTL Rep will have assigned order space and confirm Members Identification by viewing their Drivers License or ID. (through a window is fine)

  • Members will provide their order number to SKTL Rep (or Rep can look up by member name).

  • Order verified by Rep with Member, and loaded.

  • Any changes to the order should be noted before loading and at verification.

  • Advice and instruction will be very limited per objectives to minimize contact, calls and emails are always welcome.

  • SKTL Reps will input MyTurn checkouts at the end of the day or the following business day and checkout receipt will be issued. This is when a transactional email will be received by the member.

  • Checkout limits are in place for membership types:

    • $0 - Basic users will be limited to 5 tools and checkout length will be extended to a standard 14 days

    • $25 - Discounted Household members will be limited to 10 tools and checkout length will be extended to a standard 14 days

    • $40 - Standard Household members will be limited to 15 tools and checkout length will be extended to a standard 14 days

    • $300 - Lifetime Membership/Founding members will be limited to 25 tools and checkout length will be extended to a standard 14 days

  • Late fees will accrue in the amount of $1 per item, per day, unless otherwise arranged. All fees can be paid back with volunteer hours. (Volunteer hours rates as follows: Fees of $10 or less equal ONE hour of volunteer service, and accrue correspondingly, Ex: $10-$20 - two hours, $20-$30  - three hours, and so on.)

  • Deposits of $50-$200, will be held for items that exceed replacement value of $250 or greater.

volunteer

South King Tool Library is a volunteer-run organization and we are at a pivotal time in our development. Currently, we have a need for volunteers with various skills, knowledge, and experience. Fixers, creatives, data heads, and folks who just like pitching in when they can. Here are our most urgent needs right now:

  • Building

  • Managing Inventory

Members can opt to donate volunteer time instead of money to cover their annual membership contribution.  Other ways you can volunteer are:

  • Project coordination

  • Communications

  • Event planning & support

  • Fundraising

  • Grant writing

  • Social media

  • Translation services

  • Financial advisement

  • Construction advisement

If you have some time to give, please let us know. We will help you match your interests to an opportunity you'll enjoy!
