 look back on 2020

Due to COVID, we had to adapt and change our operations plan. Instead of a Grand Opening, we ended up opening in June for drive-thru checkout of tools to remove the cost barrier for our community members and to encourage repair, maintenance, and improve individuals' quality of life. With the support of dedicated volunteers and partners, we adjusted our scheduled events and classes, developed new concepts and ideas, and moved forward to take on the 2020 with full force.

While this is not exactly the path we planned, we are so excited to be able to open and start serving the community. Now, we are happy to share some of our highlights despite all the challenges:

  • As of November 2020 we have completed over 500 tool checkouts; inventoried over 700 tools; and have over 600 registered users

    • APPROXIMATE VALUE $10,000+

  • We have also co-hosted virtual classes (including several in Spanish) with several hundred participants

    • APPROXIMATE VALUE $15,000+

  • Our drive-thru and socially distanced events have diverted thousands of pounds of usable goods from the landfill including clothing, cell phones, lamps, fans, computers and scissors

    • APPROXIMATE VALUE $20,000+

Our amazing partnerships and support from our community is the only reason this is possible and we thank you all!

We look forward to many more community events and progress as we move into 2021! Help us reach our goal for #GivingTuesday and set out for success in 2021!!

All together in 2020, we estimate that SKTL has diverted

10,000 lbs from the landfill and saved community members  approximately $45,000 during this trying time.

By helping keep funds in their pockets SKTL may have helped ease the burden of keeping the lights on or supporting local business.
