South King Tool Library is hosting a Repair Café on Saturday, October 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the future home of the South King Tool Library Building at the Thornton F. McElroy Masonic Lodge, 1700 S. 340th St., Federal Way. Please note that the location is difficult to find the first time.
Residents can bring broken, damaged, or nonfunctional small household items including kitchen appliances, furniture, clothing, or family heirlooms. Please bring items small enough to be easily carried by one person. Do not bring any items that are leaking, dangerous, and excessively dirty, contain gasoline/fuel or have a strong odor. Cracked electronic screens, locked out electronics or microwaves cannot be repaired at this event.
Residents are encouraged to sign up and describe broken items through email or on the Facebook event page so fixers can research in advance. Damaged items should be accompanied by manuals, adapters,
chargers and any parts required to check if it is in working condition. There are no guarantees that items are able to be fixed. Walk-ins are welcome, and everyone will be assisted as time allows.
Children are welcome to attend the event with adult supervision. A children's craft activity is being planned.
Refreshments will be provided. The event is funded in part by grants from the Washington State Department of Ecology.
