Meet Our New Partners: SKL, Lloyd, TOTE

Builders know that the key to a lasting structure is a solid foundation. A major part of our work in 2016 has been relational - finding community partners who share our vision and are willing to help build the foundation for South King Tool Library’s success. If you’ve been following our progress, you know that the Federal Way Senior Center is providing space on their campus for our buildings. Seattle Tilth is our fiscal sponsor and nonprofit mentor organization. But those partners are only the beginning!

Meet SKL Architects. This nationally recognized, award winning architecture and design firm has offered their services to design our building and site plans. Their generous, pro bono contribution is not only an incredible cost-saver, but the promise of a design that makes the best use of space, integrates green building practices and ensures energy efficiency. It is an honor to have creative experts Rick Sundberg, John Kennedy and Gladys Ly-Au Young in our corner.

Meet Lloyd Enterprises, Inc. For fifty years, this South King County-based business has delivered expert landscaping, site prep and construction services and materials throughout Washington. They are donating a shipping container for our building project and advising us on safe transport of all donated containers to our site. Lloyd Enterprises is a highly respected company and we are thrilled to have their support.

Meet TOTE Maritime. Since 1975, TOTE Maritime has provided high-speed liner services between continental North America and Alaska and Puerto Rico. With offices in Federal Way and operations at the Port of Tacoma, this is another local partnership that SKTL is proud to acknowledge. We will be receiving two big, beautiful shipping containers from them to help build our tool library. This forward-thinking company shares our values of environmental responsibility, safety and respect for the people we serve.

Special thanks to Kelley Tanner, Chris Brown and former State Representative Teri Hickel for their advice and assistance in connecting us to these wonderful new partners.

We have many other community partners sharing expertise, resources and support. Learn more on our Community Partners page. Is your business or organization interested in working with us? Find out more about becoming a partner here.
