Success at the very first SKTL hosted Repair Café!
We'd like to thank everyone that was able to join us!
Not even the snow could slow us down!
Our fabulous fixers were able to repair over 70% of the items. Everything from a waffle maker, to an air compressor, a bench, a lamp, an air purifier and so much more.
The sewing fixers finished over 30 items! That included curtains, jackets, ball caps, blankets, shirts, cloth diapers, and more.
Not to mention the great volunteers from PSE helped the SKTL board orchestrate the flow so every single person attending had their items checked out by a fixer!
Check out the photos of our amazing volunteers, our hardworking fixers, and some first hand fixing!
On a related note, we would like to call your attention to legislation that is currently before the Washington State House concerning consumer's "Right to Repair" and it needs your support.
Support and passage of this bill and other legislation like this will support the consumer's ability to repair our property and possessions like tools, hardware, and software. A right to choose a method of repair can save time and money, plus reduce waste and consumption of durable goods, which helps to conserve resources and reduce carbon footprints. Please consider writing a letter to your representative and talking to your neighbors to do so as well.
Check HERE for more information and how you can help support the fundamental right. And HERE is a link the bill, or if you prefer copy and paste into your browser: http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2017-18/Pdf/Bills/House%20Bills/2279.pdf
Our next Repair Café will be in May 12th at the Federal Way Masonic Lodge!
If anything breaks before May, you might want to check out one of the other Repair Café events hosted by King County. Click HERE for dates and locations or copy and paste this into your browser:
