May Repair Cafe Recap

Our second official SKTL hosted repair was a huge success!

With a fantastic crew of volunteers, some generous support, and good old fashioned elbow grease we had a 82% success rate for “fixing” items!

Our amazingly talented fixers were able to fix almost 70 items, which kept over 150 pounds out of the landfill, and saved patrons hundreds of dollars. But sometimes you just can’t put a price on the value of things.

There was one woman who recovered years of lost family photos on five different hard-drives. Or the fax machine/copier that helps support a family of an adult with special needs. The Uno attack game that will have many more plays, the special stuffed Rudolph that makes generations of holiday photos a little more special, or all the lamps that will light the way for nights of reading, conversation and laughter.

Big thanks to Traders Joe's for their generous donation of snacks and refreshments!

Mark your calendar for our next Repair Cafe, Wednesday July 25th 3-6pm.

Please feel free to contact with what items you will be bringing in for repair and what it needs. Also, please bring any tools you would like to donate to the Tool Library and bring those kitchen knives in to sharpen. Special at this event will be our Kitchen Knife Sharpener Fixer and a demonstration of the Public Libraries “Maker’s Space” coming soon to Federal Way. Tell your friends about this event and come join us:
